Baby Led Weaning

A Development approach to the introduction of solid foods

This DVD shows the transition from a milk only diet to eating family foods. Explains that this stage is not as easy as expected.

Gives a different approach, it avoids spoon feeding and purees and instead allows babies to feed themselves from the very beginning, enabling them to enjoy a wide range of flavours and textures straight away.

What Mommy Does, Baby Does

This model graphically illustrates how alcohol, nicotine, and other substances can pass through the placenta and damage a foetus.

 If a woman drinks, smokes or uses drugs while she is pregnant, her baby's risk of being born with serious health problems, physical or mental disabilities increases.

As a way of helping to develop literacy skills the KRIS service has purchased a range of “Quick Reads” for staff to borrow.  Quick Reads are short, exciting books by bestselling writers and celebrities for adults who are new to reading, have lost the reading habit, or who prefer a quick read. Quick Reads have made a huge impact on the lives of adults who struggle with reading. Increased confidence and better job prospects are just some of the benefits that were reported in a major survey of the initiative.
