Cardiac Service Design and Development
The Cardiac Service Development Group is made up of a range of stakeholders from the following groups:
- Commissioning representation (local NHS Trusts)
- Public Health

- Patient/user representation
- Clinical representation: primary and secondary care
- Managerial representation: primary and secondary care
- Voluntary and community organisations
The group has a range of objectives to improve cardiac services throughout the Bristol region. These objectives include developing a plan that:
- improves health outcomes and patient experience for people with respiratory conditions through the development of responsive, effective, and quality services.
- developing a model of care that best uses the skills in primary care and secondary care to the greatest advantage for patients with respiratory conditions.
- continues to focus on prevention, timely diagnosis, accessible and effective ongoing management, rapid access to specialist assessment where needed and facilitated discharge.
- ensures service design is focussed on all patients who might need to access services, regardless of their age, where they live, what language they speak or where their GP practice is located.
