AvonWeb has been set up as part of the Local Implementation Strategy (LIS) for Information for Health, the Government’s strategy for modernising the way information is used in the NHS. 

AvonWeb is a service provided by the Avon IM&T Consortium for the use of the Avon health community. It aims to bring together local and national web services of interest to patients and the public and staff in the Avon health community.

Local NHS organisations can have

• public web sites to provide information for patients and the public
• private web sites where they can share information that assists in the running of their organisation.

There are also services exclusively for NHS staff to help them provide timely and effective care for patients, as well as links to nhs.uk services.

All sites are governed by policy agreed and set down by the Avon health community web editorial board. The web editorial board consists of representatives from all NHS organisations in the Avon health community.
